Course Content
The course introduces the function of the main digital devices which compose the modern electronic systems. Particular emphasis is devoted to embedded circuits with microcontrollers and field programmable gate arrays (FPGA).

Learning Objectives
The student will learn the theory of:
- VHDL language
- Programmable devices and embedded circuits (microcontrollers and FPGAs)
The student will lern to:
- Design a combinatorial and/or sequential logic circuit
- Program a microcontroller and/or a FPGA
Prerequisites
General Electronics, Elements of combinatorial Logic.
The student can participate to the oral tests during the year, or to the written test that at the end of the course
The student is requested to answer questions about:
- VHDL language
- Programmable devices and embedded circuits (microcontrollers and FPGAs)
The student is requested to know how to:

Course program
Main topics include: EEPROM and FLASH memory, static and dynamic RAM, DUAL PORT, FIFO, latest technologies like memory cube, memristor, etc. Microcontrollers and peripherals, interrupts and programming methods. Logic circuits basics, PLD,PAL, CPLD, FPGA. VHDL language.
